Programs:
Peanut cultivar development, weed, disease, and insect control, soil fertility, cultural practices.  The departments of Plant and Soil Sciences, Entomology, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, and Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering all conduct studies at this station.

Size and Location:  The station consists of 110 acres and is located at the end of the Ft. Cobb Reservoir dam, approximately 3 miles west and 2 north of Ft. Cobb.

Site:   The station is located in South West Oklahoma in the Western Sandstone Hills area with the primary commodities being peanuts, wheat, cotton, grain sorghum, hay, and livestock.  Most of the soils in the area are deep, nearly level to sloping, and loamy.  The prairie upland soils are among the best soils in the county for farming but are susceptible to wind erosion.  The research station consists primarily of the Cobb Soil Series.  These soils are moderately deep, very gently sloping to sloping soils on uplands and are very representative of irrigated peanut soils.  These soils are well drained and moderately permeable.  The average annual precipitation is 31.9 inches with an average summer high temperature of 91.7F and an average winter low temperature of 25.1F.  The elevation of the station is 1255 feet above sea level.
